Social aspects affected by roaccutane
Hi, First off, I'd like to praise this forum. I'm glad I had stumbled upon it by chance as it gives me good insights into other acne sufferers whereas before I honestly felt like I was all alone. All my friends have picture perfect skin which does nothing for my confidence and self-esteem, but this forum gives me an outlet to be open and share our experiences. Thanks!
So week 2 on Roaccutane and oh no, my skin is worser than ever!! In the past with previous medications, I've never really suffered from the many apparent side-effects so when I read about the first few weeks of being on Roaccutane would aggravate my skin worse, I didn't believe it. But I'm living proof. My face has erupted with the dreaded out-break.
The spots are huge lumps below the surface of the skin and really sore to touch. And there's not only one or two but clusters of them scattered on my chin and left cheek. Horrible. But fingers crossed as I'm hopeful from reading posts on this website that this will not last forever and with time, my skin will slowly start clearing up. Wish it would hurry!! Any idea when I would see a drastic improvement??
My lips are extremely dry and flaky (good it's winter so I can blame it on the cold weather!) but I find that Blistex Intensive moisturiser lip balm works really well. Parts of my forehead are very dry and flaking too, but I think Bio-oil works ok when I put it on overnight. Any recommendation for a light day moisturiser that I can wear underneath some make-up?
Eyes are very dry also, but trying to continue wearing my contact lenses, but I always have my glasses for back-up just in case. Really do not want conjunctivitis added to my list of ailments.
Social aspects affected by roaccutane:
I’ve been good and not touched a drop of alcohol this past week and it wasn’t hard. Was at the pub tonight with friends but took my car. Guess that’s a valid excuse for not drinking. I’ve a few nights coming up with work etc though, and trying to think of reasons to tell people when they ask why i’m not drinking. (don’t really fancy telling every man and his dog that I’m on roaccutane).
Contemplating just taking the car, or saying I’m on anti-biotics for something. Any suggestions for a white lie?I shouldn't let the no-drinking ban be an issue, cos the way I see it, I’ve come too far and now given a chance with Roaccutane, I'm gonna persevere.Good luck to you all with the treatment!! Wishing you all glowing, clear and perfect skin!! Xx
